Dr. Stephen Ash

Dr. Ash is a strong advocate for true beauty and excellence across all art forms. Against the tide at the University of Houston, he taught music philosophy from a Christian worldview in the classical tradition. His education toward being a worshipper and musician began in the womb at church, and continued through the rich American and British unaccompanied praise tradition, supplemented by a career on stages across Europe and the United States performing Opera and Oratorio. Alisa Bennett

Alisa has served in the church volunteering in Sunday School and VBS throughout her life. She continued her love of teaching children in Dallas area public schools until she had her own children. In her search to find a good education for their own children, the Lord brought her family to Paratus Classical Academy, where she started teaching 1st grade after falling in love with Classical Education. Ligia Castro

Ligia has more than seven years of teaching experience; she has taught Spanish for lower school grades, 1st grade, and 3rd grade. She is part of our academic team contributing in curriculum development for our lower school grades. Ligia also teaches in our upper school; she has taught Bible and Logic to our L&R students and is currently our Logic girls Bible teacher. Stephanie Cook

Stephanie Cook has taught music and theatre for 15 years, 10 of those at SBSUM. She is passionate about teaching students to use their God-given instrument and talents to worship Him with excellence. She holds Bachelor of Music Education in Choral Music. Stephanie loves cheering on her baseball loving boys, being a dance mom, singing on the church Praise Team, and sushi dates with her husband Craig. The Cook family are veterans at Paratus/SBSUM and have been faithful members since 2013, year two of the school.

Stephanie Dace

Mrs. Dace has taught 3rd grade for 19 years. She has worked in coordinating roles with student teachers, provided professional development for teachers in her district, and served her first year at SBSUM Cypress in 2023-2024. Mrs. Dace has served as the Director of Awanas, Director of Summer Day Camp, and Logistical Coordinator with Focus on Missions through her church. She holds Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master of Science in Educational Administration. Mrs. Dace and her family moved from St. Louis, MO a year ago to join the SBSUM family but they are still avid Cardinal fans!

Mr. Dace is entering his 11th year in Christian education, and 2nd year at SBSUM as Dean of Cypress Campus. He has previously served as a teacher, bi-vocational pastor, and a Head of School. He holds a Master of Divinity from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Master of Science in Cell & Molecular Biology from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Dr. Beau Dollins

Beau Dollins is currently serving as the Director of University-Model Operations at Second Baptist School University-Model in Houston, which is a five-site Classical, UM School that will have over 1150 students this fall. He co-founded the school that eventually became SBSUM with his wife, Pam, and they are still working together in this calling 13 years later. Pamela Dollins

Pam and her husband, Beau, founded a classical christian university-model school in Houston, Texas in 2012. They now serve five campuses with Second Baptist Church and spend most of their time working together to train families and faculty in this unique model of education. Pam is the mother of 11 children and enjoys teaching Bible study to all ages.

Sara Hedlund

Sara has a Bachelor’s of Business Administration from The University of Texas at Austin. She homeschooled her four children for nine years, and served on the board of her homeschool co-op for six years in the roles as Registrar and Administrator. She also served as Campus Coordinator at the Cypress campus for two years. She currently serves in a global position as the SBSUM registrar. Sara has been married to her husband, Jay, for twenty-four years. They have four children ranging in age from 15-22. She grew up in Spring, Texas. Steve Marshall

Dean Marshall has been called into the education arena displaying a sincere passion for the Lord, for teaching, and for families. He has a genuine and proven love and appreciation for the classical Christian pedagogy serving as a headmaster for 27 years and many years in the classroom as a teacher. Steve has an incredible natural ability to encourage, inspire and cast a vision that both advocates academic excellence and spiritual growth simultaneously to combat a world mired in cultural mediocrity.

Blaine Spencer has been part of Second since 2021. Blaine is an experienced Christian educator who has been serving in Christian schools since 2017. Blaine has a Master’s of Arts in Educational Leadership from Oklahoma Wesleyan University and a Bachelor’s of Arts from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma.
